Simone Battle He likes Boys

Sexy hair, gorgeous smile
He's the most perfect guy I've come across, in a while
Sensitive, real sweet
He even watches Desperate Housewives, with me
My hearts beating like a mini drum, I told my best-friends he's the one
I said I think that I'm in love this time, they told me something that could change my mind
He likes boys, finally now it's all making sense
He likes boys, I like this guy but he's on the fence
He likes boys, I can't believe this happened again
He likes boys, ooh oh oh boys ooh oh oh
Manicured finger-tips, he dresses like an American Apparel mannequin
Guess it is kind of odd, that he such a big fan of Lady Gaga-ah
My heart's beating like a mini drum, I don't believe he would lead me on
But now I'm starting to see all the signs, Is it true? Have I lost my mind?
He likes boys, finally now it's all making sense
He likes boys, I like this guy but he's on the fence
He likes boys, I can't believe this happened again
He likes boys, ooh oh oh boys ooh oh oh
He likes boys, finally now it's all making sense
He likes boys, I like this guy but he's on the fence
He likes boys, I can't believe this happened again
He likes boys, ooh oh oh boys ooh oh oh
I don't think I could take this kind of rejection
I guess it's time to take it in, my gaydar needs some inspection
I thought him and me, were the perfect we
I guess I'll move on to plan B
We both like vintage shopping, and we both like BOYS!
Finally now it's all making sense
We like boys, It's a love story with a twist
We like boys, found my new gay best-friend
He likes boys, ooh oh oh boys ooh oh oh
Boys, finally now it's all making sense
We like boys, It's a love story with a twist
We like boys, found my new gay best-friend
He likes boys, ooh oh oh boys ooh oh oh
BOYS!

Analysis

I chose "He likes boys" This song is basically about a guy the song writer has met who is also into boys just like her. The tone you can say that's affiliated with this song is shock, also excitement even confusion. Simone uses metaphor in this song. When she says, "My hearts beating like a mini drum I told my best-friend's he was the one." His affection that he shows Simone allows herself  to be open. The song writer says, "He likes boys, I can't believe this happened again." She has experienced this before. Simone has fallen in love with a boy who she see's as perfect but he isn't into girls. Simone says'  I guess I'll move on to plan B. What is her plan B to find another guy or look for girls? Simone states, "He's the most perfect guy I've come across, in a while." Perfect I would say not really because no one is perfect but the way he treats her allows her to see his perfection. There is also stereotyping in this song when Simone says, "Manicured finger-tips, he dresses like an American Apparel mannequin. Guess it is kind of odd, that he such a big fan of Lady Gaga-ah." Simone is speaking on the guy's perfectness but also to me it shows about being gay.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Same Love

"Same Love"
(with Ryan Lewis)
(feat. Mary Lambert)

When I was in the third grade I thought that I was gay,
'Cause I could draw, my uncle was, and I kept my room straight.
I told my mom, tears rushing down my face
She's like "Ben you've loved girls since before pre-k, trippin'."
Yeah, I guess she had a point, didn't she?
Bunch of stereotypes all in my head.
I remember doing the math like, "Yeah, I'm good at little league."
A preconceived idea of what it all meant
For those that liked the same sex
Had the characteristics
The right wing conservatives think it's a decision
And you can be cured with some treatment and religion
Man-made rewiring of a predisposition
Playing God, aw nah here we go
America the brave still fears what we don't know
And "God loves all his children" is somehow forgotten
But we paraphrase a book written thirty-five-hundred years ago
I don't know

And I can't change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can't change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love
My love
My love
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm

If I was gay, I would think hip-hop hates me
Have you read the YouTube comments lately?
"Man, that's gay" gets dropped on the daily
We become so numb to what we're saying
A culture founded from oppression
Yet we don't have acceptance for 'em
Call each other faggots behind the keys of a message board
A word rooted in hate, yet our genre still ignores it
Gay is synonymous with the lesser
It's the same hate that's caused wars from religion
Gender to skin color, the complexion of your pigment
The same fight that led people to walk outs and sit ins
It's human rights for everybody, there is no difference!
Live on and be yourself
When I was at church they taught me something else
If you preach hate at the service those words aren't anointed
That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned
When everyone else is more comfortable remaining voiceless
Rather than fighting for humans that have had their rights stolen
I might not be the same, but that's not important
No freedom 'til we're equal, damn right I support it

(I don't know)

And I can't change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love
My love
My love
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm

We press play, don't press pause
Progress, march on
With the veil over our eyes
We turn our back on the cause
'Til the day that my uncles can be united by law
When kids are walking 'round the hallway plagued by pain in their heart
A world so hateful some would rather die than be who they are
And a certificate on paper isn't gonna solve it all
But it's a damn good place to start
No law is gonna change us
We have to change us
Whatever God you believe in
We come from the same one
Strip away the fear
Underneath it's all the same love
About time that we raised up... sex

And I can't change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can't change
Even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love
My love
My love
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm
She keeps me warm

Love is patient
Love is kind
Love is patient
Love is kind
(not crying on Sundays)
Love is patient
(not crying on Sundays)
Love is kind
(I'm not crying on Sundays)
Love is patient
(not crying on Sundays)
Love is kind
(I'm not crying on Sundays)
Love is patient
(not crying on Sundays)
Love is kind
(I'm not crying on Sundays)
Love is patient
Love is kind

Analysis
I chose "Same Love," because this song is based on Same Love Marriage, equality and acceptance. This song is basically about Marriage equality. You can say this song also have expressive reviews on same sex, gay rights and marriage equality. There is repetition in this song where Macklemore says, And I can't change. Even if I tried. Gay people can't change who they are because they have a bult in feeling for the same sex. Personification is used in this song Love is Patient. You can see imagery in this song as well when he states, "Man made rewiring of a predispositon". What he is saying is that people need to speak up and fight for what they know is right. rewiring in this aspect could mean people need to change there attitude from hate and into loving one another.

Religion is another ties into this song because those who are religious believe that 1 man and 1 woman are supposed to be married only and if you are different you will not be accepted in to what they believe. Repetition is in this song when he says, I don't know. It sounds like he is defeated because he wants people to understand WE ARE EQUAL. Macklemore also said, We press play, don't press pause. Progress, march on with the veil over our eyes. What he is saying we keep being blind to what is right and keep our mouth's closed.

This song has a strong message on what we face today with society and religion. They all believe in one way but when something new and different comes along it is wrong. We as people should not be blind by what is right and what is wrong.  Love is love no matter race, color or sexuality. Equality is also for ALL not just majority of a race but everyone. WE are one and we do not differ only by color but we bleed the same eat and use the bathroom the same way.

Disclosure Latch

You lift my heart up

When the rest of me is down

You, you enchant me, even when you’re not around

if there are boundaries, I will try and knock them down

I’m latching on babe

Now I know what I have found

I feel we’re close enough

I wanna lock on your love

I think we’re close enough

Could I lock in your love, baby?

Now I got you in my space

I won’t let go of you

Got you shackled in my embrace

I’m latching onto you

Now I got you in my space

I won’t let go of you

Got you shackled in my embrace

I’m latching onto you

I’m so encaptured, got me wrapped up in your touch

Feel so enamored, hold me tight within your clutch

How do you do it, you got me losing every breath

What did you give me to make my heart beat out my chest?
I feel we’re close enough

I wanna lock in your love

I think we’re close enough

Could I lock in your love, baby?

I feel we’re close enough

I wanna lock in your love

I think we’re close enough

Could I lock in your love, baby?

Now I got you in my space

I won’t let go of you

Got you shackled in my embrace

I’m latching onto you

Now I got you in my space

I won’t let go of you

Got you shackled in my embrace

I’m latching onto you

I’m latching onto you (I’m latching onto you)

I won’t let go of you (I won’t let go)

I’m latching onto you (I don’t wanna let go)

I won’t let go of you (I won’t let go, I won’t let go)

Analysis
I chose “Latch” because what the songwriter is saying is you opened up my heart with your love and now i’m locking my love onto your’s. I’m going to give you all of me the good and the bad. Also the songwriter is trying to get you to understand love is profound given by the right person. Love is amazing to have and feel. It’s like magic. The tone I get from this song is Joy, happiness and intensity. I also got that the songwriter is basically saying that the person’s love is the key to his heart. Latch means to enclose, to capture to hold onto. This song is showing unconditional love. This song uses metaphor, “Got you shackled in my embrace.” The author is using shackles which represents chains. The arms are the chains and it’s to hold onto the person he/she loves. The author also says, “ Feel so enamored, hold me tight within your clutch.” What the songwriter is saying here is that the person’s love has grasped a hold of them. That he/she has captured them by the love that the songwriter has felt from her/him. Disclosure also says, I’m so en captured, got me wrapped up in your touch.” Disclosure is saying The love he received got him wrapped up meaning the love he is covered with is all around him. Disclosure uses hyperbole when he says, How did you do it, you got me losing every breath. What did you give me to make my heart beat out my chest?” The songwriter is stating because of the person’s love is so strong and captivating that it feels like he is losing his breath and his heart is beating out of his chest. To me his heart could be beating rapidly after the love he received. Disclosure also spoke, “ You, you enchant me, even when you’re not around. If there are boundaries, I will try to knock them down.” What his point is his/her love has enchant him meaning the love has hypnotized him. You can also say that the love she gives him is controlling him and he is being guided by her love. Even when they aren’t in sight they can feel the love surrounding them. The boundaries meaning anything blocking him from loving her. To me even people can be a boundary.
This song shows repetition when he says, Now I got you in my space I'm latching onto you.

He is obsessed with the person love and he is not letting go he refuses to let go. He say's, I'm latching onto you (I don't wanna let go). I won't let go of you (I won't let go, I won't let go). The woman's love can be his drug that he is obsessed with. He say's, We're close enough. I want to lock in your love. The songwriter believes her love can give him hope. I can also say the songwriter is showing affection towards this woman because of his heartfelt lyrics about him latching onto the love she is giving him. The moral of latch is the simple fact of falling in love with someone.
